Sugared almond, as widely said in our previous articles, have an ancient history. Even the first traces of these small sugar nuggets date back to Roman times during the conquest in the Peligna valley and this is why the city of Sulmona is the home of confetti. Used in sugared almonds to celebrate baptisms, births, weddings and any other occasion, making confetti at home is very simple and fast. It requires a minimum of manual skills which can certainly be acquired over time.
Homemade sugared almond, the recipe
Ingredients for about 50 sugared almonds
- 100g almond paste
- 50g almonds
- 100g icing sugar
- 1 albume
- 2 drops of lemon
Method
Pour a pinch of icing sugar over the almond paste and roll out everything with a rolling pin. Make some circles of pasta in the center of which you will place a skinned almond. Wrap the pasta around the almond and give it the shape of a sugared almond. Help us with the palm of your hand to give it the right shape then level everything to obtain a smooth surface. Repeat the procedure for each almond.
In a bowl, with the help of electric whips, work the icing sugar with the egg white and the two drops of lemon until a solid glaze is obtained. At this point, dip each sugared almond into the icing and place them on a baking tray covered with parchment paper.
Bake the sugared almonds for 10 minutes at 60 ° C. Once cooked, let them cool out of the oven for half a day; this will allow the confetti to harden.
Your confetti are ready to be tasted!
